Black – Lingerie
It’s so easy to find black lingerie. Next to white it has to be the most common color worn.
I’ve been wanting to spend some time at Plus Size Plum, a new plus size lingerie online retailer and finally made the time today. If found this sweet black chemise with eyelash trim and pink ribbon accent for $56. It looks flattering and covers up all the usual areas women want to camouflage.

Black – The Bag
It’s kind of funny how I ended up with today’s fave item. I was going completely in one direction and suddenly found myself at Zappos, what I consider a shoe spot. I’ve never looked at other accessories there but I now know they have some pretty nice bags. Like this one… a Goldenbleu Marni (#7362090).

Now there’s probably a reason I’ve never considered Zappos for bags. They are pretty darn expensive as far as handbags go. But I love this one and thought you might too. This black and white croc leather is $798.95 (not sure why they didn’t just round it off to $800).
I like this bag because it isn’t like every other bag I’ve seen before yet the retro design gives it a classic look. There are compartments for the wallet, glasses, phone and a water bottle if you’re the health conscious type.
And it is not as casual as I’ve been with my choices lately. I read an article this morning in Rouge Magazine that made me feel guilty about my yoga pant wearing ways.

Black – The Jewelry
Black is cool and dark. I like the feeling of cool dark jewelry on my skin and anything Hematite fits the bill. I have about three different kinds of necklaces, two bracelets and five rings all made from Hematite.
Hematite is a mineral form of iron that was commonly crafted into jewelry in the Victorian age. It’s now more popular among artisans and Western society. It’s also pretty darn cheap.
I found this beautiful piece at A Greater Gift, a non-profit organization that helps poor communities support themselves by selling their goods.
I simply adore this necklace. The contrast of red and black is alluring although I think it would be too much to wear them with the earrings but each worn separately would be dynamite. The red amber is actually dyed bone that has been crafted into a bead. The hematite and bone are blended with antiqued silver and Masai glass beads. The necklace is $27 and the earrings are $8.50. If you check out A Greater Gift make sure you read about each artisan so you know who is being helped.
If you feel inclined and own the creative juices to make your own hematite piece then I recommend you do a search on ebay for they are a goldmine of hematite materials as well as ready made pieces.

Black – The Shoes
When you think black and shoes you must think boots and since I mentioned boots yesterday I thought why not go looking for some hot boots. Since plus size women generally have wide calves, that was also my goal.
Zappos has a number of dressy wide calf boots but I liked these casual ones best. La Canadienne Laura (#7343642). If it’s Canadian it has to be good, eh?
The natural leather, flatter heel and antibacterial lining make it a great everyday boot. They are waterproof so no worries if you are suddenly caught in a shower.
They would go so well with the dress from Lane Bryant I talked about yesterday and of course thin legged jeans and long skirts.

Black – The Dress
It’s the last week of our color theme extravaganza and I’ve saved the best for last. Black is the base that sets off everything. Everything looks good with black and black never goes out of style. Everyone woman should have a functional black dress in her wardrobe, especially a plus size woman. And if you can afford it, go for two.
I have two favorites. The first is from plus size clothing retailer, Kiyonna. Even the name is sexy. This Modal Ruched Surplice Dress is $126. Modal is a natural fiber made from beech cellulose. It mimics cotton but doesn’t pill like cotton and it is resistant to shrinkage and fading if washed as directed. Usually warm water, gentle. Lenzing Modal is a company in Austria that specializes in Modal fabrics. This is perfect for a dress that receives lots of wear. This is an exceptionally versatile dress that can be played down for the office or spruced up for an evening out.
The next dress is from Lane Bryant. It’s casual and made for layering. Pair it with a bright color tee or with the business like crispness of a white shirt. I also love LB suggestion of adding knee high boots to the look.

White – The Jewelry
Say hello to this 14 K White Gold, White Topaz and Diamond Ring from Diamonds International. Ok, so it’s really expensive. But it sparkles. Big time! And check out the scroll detailing on the side. It comes in sizes 5-15, so yes, Virgina there is such a thing as plus size jewelry.
It’s priced at $1,175.00. What a bargain! Ok, maybe not a bargain for the average Joe but I’m sure it’s a bargain for someone… somewhere. And wouldn’t it just drive all your friends crazy?
This beauty is definitely one of my favorite things this week. Have a great weekend!

Got big feet? Then you need to visit Dream Shoes. Big feet are their specialty. If you are smaller than a size 10 skip this one.

I found these comfy Sofft Arianna strappy sandals on sale for $35 at their website which is loaded with boots, sandals, pumps, clogs… you name it. They have sexy straps, a two inch heel that looks taller because it’s a wedge. They look like they can be worn all day!

Ok, not lingerie, sleepwear. Or PJs. But these are not the pj’s from your childhood. They are 100% silk and they are from Iris Silks, an online retailer who is also smart enough to include a plus size line in their collection.
This luxurious ladies silk set (P490-P) is $75 and comes in sizes 1 – 3x. Surround yourself with the softness and silk and you’ll never go back to your cotton jammies again. Ok, that might be an over statement but I bet it has you curious. If you don’t like the black petals it also comes in plain white.

White – The Pants
The whole white past labor day has been kicked out the door the last few years. The only safeguard today when it comes to white is not cooking with tomato sauce when you’re wearing it.
I found a pair of seashell stretch twill pants at Fashion Bug and they are primo. They are on sale for $31. And they aren’t a harsh white so you won’t feel like a complete knob wearing them after the media imposed cut off. The contrasting thread detail is a nice touch.
The added spandex helps them to keep their shape as well as smooth out the curves. I’d get them a size up and wear ‘em baggy with a great belt that matches the stitching. But that’s just me. Fashion Bug is offering these in plus sizes 16-32.

White – The Top
Only two more weeks of color theme left. This week is white. I cleaned out my closet this past week and cleaned out a huge bag of clothing including four white shirts I’ve only worn once. I love the look of crisp white shirts… on other people. I don’t know if it’s my fair skin and hair but I look uncomfortable in white shirts and of course more pale (if that’s even possible).

My goal for today was to find a comfy white shirt and I think I did just that at plus size clothing mecca Lane Bryant. My first thought was to stay away from crisp. Crisp always seems to bind or ride up. I actually saved the tee shirt section until last because I wanted to avoid going to a tee but nothing jumped out at me until the tees. As you know layered is in but layered on a plus size body isn’t necessarily flattering. Lane Bryant has these fall layer-look tees and they have white in them. A little anyway. They’ve also combined it with another hot trend for tees, foil prints.
This layered shirt rocks. The thermal underwear paired with the silkscreen tee. Click on image to see print “Tranquil Beauty”. I couldn’t decide on one tee today and included this Baby Phat tee. I love dragons and this one really helps to break up the starkness of this otherwise white tee. And since layering is in I’d pair it with a hoodie slightly zipped so the dragon can peek out. Because this shirt is so form fitting and has no sleeves to be bulky it will be great for layering
