Black – The Dress

It’s the last week of our color theme extravaganza and I’ve saved the best for last. Black is the base that sets off everything. Everything looks good with black and black never goes out of style. Everyone woman should have a functional black dress in her wardrobe, especially a plus size woman. And if you can afford it, go for two.

I have two favorites. The first is from plus size clothing retailer, Kiyonna. Even the name is sexy. This Modal Ruched Surplice Dress is $126. Modal is a natural fiber made from beech cellulose. It mimics cotton but doesn’t pill like cotton and it is resistant to shrinkage and fading if washed as directed. Usually warm water, gentle. Lenzing Modal is a company in Austria that specializes in Modal fabrics. This is perfect for a dress that receives lots of wear. This is an exceptionally versatile dress that can be played down for the office or spruced up for an evening out.

The next dress is from Lane Bryant. It’s casual and made for layering. Pair it with a bright color tee or with the business like crispness of a white shirt. I also love LB suggestion of adding knee high boots to the look.
