All this talk about party dresses had me wondering today what we could carry our lipstick in. Not just any clutch will do so I went surfing over to Myna Bags for something cute and fashionable. And what did my eyes feast upon? Well this little ditty of course:

I know! Two posts in one day, how lucky are you?
I just had to post about this new top from Igigi. Not only are the colors hot but the style is fabulous. LOVE IT! I soooo want one of these but at $205, yep that’s correct, it ain’t going to happen. But if you can… go for it! Then brag about it.
It is made out of silk dupioni (some kind of handwoven wild silk) . It comes in Peacock (shown), Fuchsia (an awesome purple), Terracotta and Gold.
Is this a flattering blouse or what?! The neckline, the collar, the wrap belt, the length. It’s perfect! Did I mention, I loved it?

Christmas Party Dress - 7
Welcome to the Emerald Isle. Today’s plus size party dress is from Elisabeth by Liz Claiborne and is all about showing off the gams (I know, dating myself again. Fine, calves people!).
Made with flowing 100% silk georgette (dryclean only, sorry) and is available in sizes 14 - 22 for $165. The conservative neckline allows attention to draw to the satin belt at the waist and then down the leg where you can show off the before mentioned gams.

Christmas Party Dress - 6
Am I blue? You betcha! I fell in love with this blue velvet dress at Peggy Lutz tonight. This “Velvet is the Night” dress is made with lycra velvet so it is comfy and hangs marvelously. Get a load of all that fabric. The model is 5′10″ so us tall girls actually get a floor length gown instead of one that hits us above the ankles (hate that).
They boast about it being machine wash and dryable. So what you pay for in price, $269-$309 depending on size, you save on drycleaning. It comes in XXS to 3X. Seven other colors are available but why on earth wouldn’t you want to go blue.

Christmas Party Dress - 4 & 5
I’m feeling conservative today. In my search for conservative at Ulla Popkin I found two dresses that I think would be great additions. You’ll also notice they are a bit casual to the other items I’ve been showing for my party dress series. That’s because not all parties are fancy dancy.
The first dress is the Colorblock Empire Dress (81203). The contrast of black and white is always striking and this white cutout at the breast is flattering and draws the eyes up. It’s made of slinky rayon so you know it will be comfortable as well as hang well. It comes in a brown/tomato too but it’s sort of scary in those colors. The sizes available are 12 - 34, and it’s priced at $69.
The second dress is the Essential Trapeze Dress (81202) in a bold raspberry color (it also comes in black) with 3/4 length sleeves. It is made from a “no-wrinkle” fabric (viscose/rayon/spadex) and comes in sizes 12 - 34. It is also $69.
Both dresses have the option of machine washing or dry cleaning. I haven’t spent a lot of time at Ulla but I’ve found more than a few things I like. Have a look around. Like I mentioned it’s more conservative that most other plus size shops but there is definitely nothing wrong with being conservative. Actually, it’s a nice break.

Give Your Dress a Little Lift
Women have been wearing petticoats since the 1500s. It typically hangs from the waist and can be one or multiple layers of crinoline. Plus size lingerie retailer, Hips and Curves has a beautiful new petticoat (HC5386) to give your party dress a little lift and a little more sashay.
The petticoat featured here comes in sizes 1x/2x and 3x/4x. It is available in black, white and ivory for $29.95. The bustier is sold separately (there’s a link to it on the petticoat page) but you definitely don’t need it to take advantage of a petticoat. It does look fab in the photo though.

Christmas Party Dress - 3
To me, Igigi is the ultimate party dress supplier for plus size women. They have a huge selection of styles that are hard to come by in a walk in clothing shop. They also carry designs that one would drool over in a skinny girl shop. One of the best things about their dresses is how the designs focus on flattering the plus size form and not just making a dress bigger.
In my travels today, I came across the Lucille Cocktail Dress which is simply divine with a capital “D”. Starting with its crossover bodice, the empire waist and loads of fabric in the skirt.
It comes with a bolero jacket so you don’t have to worry about a wrap or other cover-up. The Lucille dress is available in sizes 12 - 32 for $159.
