I was watching a news piece this weekend about umbrellas and they featured a Vancouver company called The Umbrella Shop. A girl can never have too many umbrellas, especially if she lives here.
The Umbrella shop carries a wide assortment of umbrellas, most of which they make in their own shop (apparently, the last of it’s kind in Canada). They have umbrellas for rain and for sun. Umbrellas for the commuter and for the fashionista. There are so many to choose from but I think this is one of my favorites.
This particular umbrellas is from their European line and is called Pinstripes and Posies. It is $75. The Umbrella Shop ships worldwide for a reasonable price considering the shape of the package.
Every woman should have a pretty umbrella.

Penningtons / MXM / Addition-Elle Online!
Canadian plus size clothing retailer Penningtons and it’s sister stores MXM and Addition-Elle now offer online shopping to both Canadian and American consumers. Yeah! I thought I’d celebrate with finding one favorite thing at each brand.
First up MXM. It wasn’t hard to fall in love with this site with Crystal Renn plastered everywhere. I luv her.
I fell in deep like with this Striped V-neck Fooler with buckle. I know there are many out there that think that stripes are the touch of death but this top works because the pattern is broken up by the contrasting v-neck/buckle. It currently is only available in sizes 12 - 16 and is retailing for $44.99 (but they have Buy 1 -Get 40 % off the next on at the moment).
Number two is at Addition-Elle - Faux Demin Poet Jacket. It comes in sizes 12 - 24. It’s is a great layering piece or left on it’s own as a top (but it’s so much more fun to layer!). It’s $99.99 but also a part of the same promtion mentioned above.
And lastly, Penningtons. I wasn’t expecting to go looking for lingerie but find it I did. I love this combination animal print lace demi bra. It is $39.99 (Buy 1 -Get 40% off the next) and comes in sizes 38D - 44C.
The best part about these three brands being online is that plus size fashionistas can shop from all three stores and have their items go into one shopping cart.

Wonder Woman Underwear
Do you have an image in your head when you think of Wonder Woman? I think there are really only two images out there — Lynda Carter and DC Comics. Now, there’s me! And you too, if you want.
Web Undies has Wonder Woman underwear (size 4 - 3x) and I ordered a pair, yes I did. I had too. They just looked too good to be true.
Well, they arrived today, here’s a pic and I’m actually quite impressed (I know I sound surprised). They have the DC Comics stamp of approval on the label and tag. I tried them on and everything and I love them (like you had any doubt).
They are 95% cotton with 5% spandex. The colour looks like it’s part of the fabric and not printed on. They are reasonably soft and I imagine will be softer after I wash them. They are machine washable. They cost $25.99 plus $4.99 shipping.

When you step out of the shower and look in the mirror do you ever wonder if they are normal? Here’s your chance to see how the other half looks in the comfort of your own home.
Artist, Cheryl-Ann Webster has self published a book on her labor of love of the last few years. It all started when her daughter mentioned to her that her best friend was saving up for a boob job. We hear that often enough but the best friend was 13-years-old.
Webster went to work developing the Beautiful Women Project which involved her making casts of 100+ women from the clavicle to the hip bone. She then decorated them with dabs of inspirations just as unique and different as our breasts. The casts are now touring different libraries and galleries in Ontario.
The book is made with a heavy semi-gloss soft cover about the size of a magazine. It is 77 pages long but the images are large enough to see each bust accurately as well as appreciate its art. It is a better quality than depicted in the site preview. The models ranged in age from 19 - 91. There are thin women, plus size women and women who’ve had mastectomies.
I’ve seen this collection first hand (twice) and now have the book. I loved revisiting them. And it is a real eye opener to what real women look like at all ages. It costs $30 and profits go towards current and future exibit costs.

F*@k Plastic Bags
I’m really getting into reuseable bags when shopping but they seam so expensive to me especially since most them are a walking advertisment for the place you bought it from.
BYOB (Buy Your Own Bags) has a number of different options for canvas bags but this one is my favorite. They call it “cheeky”, I call it attitude, baby! The bags are made from 100% cotton and are 17″ tall X 16″ wide X 4″. The straps are wider than your average useable bag and it’s washable.
For the attitude alone it’s worth the $29.99 price tag.

No It’s not a MuuMuu
Ok, I know this is a cross between a nightgown and a muumuu 
but I love this dress. It comes in three colors including the sage green shown here. Ulla Popken carries this style in sizes 12 - 34 for $59.
This dress screams lazy summer day to me but it’s made of 100% viscose rayon and is hand wash so that isn’t something I’d put my legs up in… well maybe.

Big Green Bag (s)
I like big bags. Not humongous, just big. I don’t stuff them full of things I’ll never use. I have my wallet, a tube of back up lipstick, a few pens, a note pad, hand sanitizer (just in case), a hair pick (even though my hair is short), and that’s pretty much it. But if I go shopping for some small items I like to be able to put them in my bag instead of taking an extra plastic bag out into the world.
When I went shopping today for a green bag I didn’t think immediately that I would go big. The bra thing the other day didn’t go so well so I guess I thought the bag search wouldn’t go as well either. Much to my surprise, I found TWO great big green bags! Both are from Zappos.
The first is Lucky Brand Pretty Betty Suede (7387990) in grass green. It is about 13 x 15 inches and is selling for $172. Pricey? A girl can dream can’t she. It’s is pretty though.
The second is an Oakley Hobo (7252647) in fern green. It is more my speed in terms of fuctionality for everyday and would be a perfect replacement for my Gap bag which is starting to come apart from overuse. This Hobo measures 16 x 14 inches and is selling for a more reasonable $79. It’s a leather denim combo.
