10 Last Minute Halloween Costumes

It is the night before Hallween and you still don’t have a costume. You haven’t had the time and really who has the money. Here are ten last minute costume ideas for the fat chick on a budget:

  1. Spy - Dress in black pants, long sleeve black shirt, black gloves, dark glasses, cell phone.
  2. Prostitute from Hell- Throw on your sluttiest dress, coif your hair and over do the makeup.
  3. Roman Princess - Put on a bathingsuit then take a clean white sheet and wrap it around your body and tie it over one shoulder. Find some fake flowers to put in your hair.
  4. Man - Borrow a suit from your father, slick hair back and paint a moustache on your lip with eye liner.
  5. Country Princess - Put on a pair of overalls (I still have a denim pair hiding in my closet), a sexy tank, curl the hair up, and get a cob of corn.
  6. Pirate - Dark pants, high boots, white collar shirt. Tie a wrap around waist and a bandana in your hair.
  7. Stewardess - Dark suit skirt, dark suit jacket, white shirt, necktie. You decide whether she’s naughty or nice.
  8. Ghost Bride’s Maid - Put one of those Bride’s Maid dresses to good use (any marks all ready there add to the look). Use your make up talents to create a dead appearance.
  9. Hula Girl - Take three large garbage bags. Sew bottom edges one after the other on a long piece of twine. Cut slits from open edge up to an inch from the twine. Tie around waist to make a hula grass skirt, add tank top (bathingsuit top), draw black design on face with eye pencil or be a princess. You can make a lei out of an egg carton by cutting each cup off and sewing them together. Paint with quick drying paint or glue colored construction paper to centers.
  10. Cheerleader - Short pleated shirt, tight sweater. Find some scrap material and cut out a letter. Pin in place and loosely sew to front of sweater (tie ends together loosely in back so you can easily remove next day). Make poppoms using a few small white garbage bags (tie knot at closed end and cut slits to make streamers.

Happy Halloween!

Beautifully Big Figurines

I couldn’t resist showing you these figurines featured at ChunkEBusiness by artist Florence. There are nineteen styles to choose from depicting images from the “classical age, myth, renaissance and everyday life carry humor together with elegance”. They are made of cast resin and hand painted. Not all figurines are immediately available but ChunkE is currently taking “special orders” for them.

These three are my faves:

The Goddess of Love / Venus - 15 1/4″ high - $140

The Ole Dancer - 11″ high - $135

The Graceful Bike Rider - 9 3/4″ high - $140

Gray from Igigi

I’m a huge fan of gray. I’ve had three gray vehicles I like it so much. When it comes to clothing, to me, gray is like black, it’s a great backdrop for decorating upon (hello accessories!). In the office it also helps break up the boredom of the black suit. This season Igigi likes gray too. I fell in love with they Alexis Tailored Dress in Gray Herringbone.

The Trapeze neckline is fabulous, the princess seams are flattering. The 3/4 length sleeves and below the knee hem show enough skin but still manages to be professional. And it seems that herringbone never goes out of style. Traditionally we tend to pair gray dresses with bold accessories but I love how they have paired this dress with gray shoes and bag.

This dress is available in sizes 12 - 30. It is currently on sale for $99 (regular $149).

Time for the Trench Coat

It’s the perfect time of the year to start thinking about outerwear. In some places better sooner than later as you never know what is going to hit. I found this sassy trench coat from Love Your Peaches that is fashsionable flattering and washable.

This Princess Coat takes solar fleece to a whole new level with it’s design. It is very generous around the bottom for those times when you just want to twirl. And attached shawl collar, welted pockets and tapering at the waist finish it off. It comes in four colors: red, charcoal (shown), cobalt and black. It is available in sizes 1x - 6x for $140.

The Hippie Pirate

Annie’s Costumes calls this the Blue Pirate which she surely is but there’s definitely some hippie looking qualities to it. I like this one because it is an untraditional pirate costume.

The Blue Pirate Lady Plus Costume comes with the off-white shirt, attached blue velour vest, blue velour pants, brown/black waist sash and headscarf. This costume fits sizes 16 - 22 and is currently available for $45.95.

All you need are some kick-ass boots! And the Angelica Lace-up Boot from Torrid fits the bill. These boots come in sizes 7 and 12 (I know disappointing - they’re hot, but check out Torrid’s Plunder boots too!). These boots are $59 and wide calf if you have the right foot size.

Think Pink - With Clinique

I’ve used the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion by Clinique on and off for over a decade. It’s a fabulously smooth lotion that lasts a long time.

This month Clinique is helping to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation by offering a whopping $10 from each purpose of their “limited-edition” Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion to aid Cancer Research.

Think Pink - Crocs

I’m not a huge fan of Crocs shoes. There are so many knock-offs out there and every third person seems to be wearing them BUT they are joining in on Pink Month by donating $5 from the purchase of their selected pink Crocs.

Including these sassy “Sassari” ones with a 3″ heel. They come in sizes 4 - 12 for $39.99. Why pay that when you can have a cheap pair? According to their site their shoes are actually good for your feet. They are comfortable, ergonomic (not sure about the 3″ ones), anti-microbial, and odor resistant. Since your feet are naked in them most of the time it seems like a good investment.

If you use the coupon code - pinkoct8 - you may also get free shipping.

Think Pink - Junonia

Junonia is doing their part for Breast Health Month by offering these cosy Pink Ribbon Sandals by Privo (product number - 904023). Every purchase of these pink ribbon flip-flops means a $2 donation for Breast Cancer Research.

These sandals are available in sizes 8 - 11. Besides the pink ribbon color they come in black and olive. Their flex-fit design and faux shearling lining both on the footbed and inner straps will make them one of those wear all day shoes (or since winter is coming slippers). They cost $49.95.
