Cool-Jams Night Shirt Review
Cool-jams is an online sleep wear shop run out of San Diego, California that offers wicking sleepwear for women who experience night sweats due to hormonal fluctuations. Since I hit thirty my hormones have had a mind of their own so I was excited when I came across this product. Cool-jams has five styles of night gowns and eight styles of pyjamas to choose from. This past week I had the opportunity to test drive the Kristi Moisture Wicking Nightshirt shown at right.
The Kristi night shirt has a gentle V-neck highlighted with soft lace trim. It is made of 100% polyester microfiber and is available in sizes S to 3x. I would say it has a generous cut (the large is a 12/14, xl is a 16/18, 2x is 20/22 and 3x is a 24/26). It comes in lilac or aqua. The Kristi night shirt sells for $39 but the other sleepwear ranges in price from $33 to $65 depending on style.
I was impressed with how well the night shirt was put together. It is cleanly stitched with no loose tags and the shoulders are reinforced. Their sleep wear can be machine washed and they come with a protective mesh bag to keep it looking its best. My shirt actually worked its way out of the bag the first time I washed it but we’ll see how it works the next time.
Cool-Jams boasts ten main highlights of their sleepwear, none of which I can argue with:
- Wrinkle-free
- Wicks away moisture
- Static-free
- Machine washable
- Shrinkage resistant
- Strong and durable
- Snag resistant
- Light weight
- Quick drying
- Perfect for travel
I found the Kristi night shirt to be light weight and comfortable to sleep in. It isn’t picky and didn’t twist around me during the night. I found it to be an asset to sleep in during warm night and was impressed with the wicking properties. I normally wear cotton because I find it breathable but during warm nights (or hormonal nightmares) it tends to get wet and stay wet. I was impressed with how cool and dry the material stayed during the night. And how much cooler I felt.
If you suffer from an elevated body temperature during the night due to hormone fluctuations or otherwise then I recommend you give this wicking sleepwear a try.

Get Ready for Mia Tyler’s Revolution Saturday
Back in February I mentioned that Mia Tyler was starting a plus size clothing line. This Saturday, plus size model/actress/author and Victoria Baker-Winfrey will celebrate the first item to roll off their Revolution 1228 line of plus size clothing. The “Holy Grail” shirt will be launched at 12 noon pacific time on May 30th. Quantities are limited so you’ll want to get there early.
This is the next step in Mia’s and Victoria’s business plan to raise money for increasing their product line. According to the website the cost of the Holy Grail shirt is way under $25 and shipping will be economical. I’m looking forward to getting my tee.

Babydolls
When it comes to spring and summer I don’t really think a lot about lingerie other than the basics. But the Lingerie Diva’s babydolls are definitely worth a mention. Despite most of their models not looking anything near plus size they do offer plus sizes in 1x to 4x (be wary of the “one size fits all”) at reasonable prices. And they offer free shipping on orders $75 and over.
The leopard, zebra and mesh babydolls I picked as my favorites ranged from $29 to $32:

Plus Size Asian Dress on eBay
I was on eBay looking for EZcombs (there’s lots there if you’re looking) and some how came across this beautiful Asian inspired dress in plus sizes from Shanghai, China.
This Chinese silk satin party dress has a open back with halter closure at neck and an extra long slit up the slide of the leg for the woman who likes to show off her gams.
I think this is a lovely dress and was happily surprised to see it was available in sizes 3x to 6x. Bidding started at 99 cents on this and there’s three days left to go! It comes with a reasonable shipping cost.
There’s always good deals to be found for plus size clothing on eBay even when you’re not expecting to find them.

Colorblock Tank Dress
I love summer dresses but I find so many of them tend to be patterned. No, I have nothing against the right pattern. Color blocked dresses, plus size or otherwise, like this one from Ulla Popken give the eye a break from the busy visual stimulation that a repetitive all over pattern tends to lend. And if the colors are in the right spot (like they are with this dress) it can look like you are wearing more than one piece.
This Colorblock Knit Tank Dress (92277) comes in combination sizes 12/14 to 32/34 for $89. It also comes in a grey top, white sash, black skirt. The dress is made from machine washable “slinky vicose rayon” which offers a lovely drape and provides an elegant dance around the body when the wearer moves.
I love the incorporation of the sash which could be left hanging to draw the eye down or wrapped again to define the waist. It looks great with the glad sandals or with a spring espadrille.

Plus Size Swimsuits with Class
Since I had a two for two mention on bras this week I decided I might as well make a two for two mention on plus size swimwear. Then the boobage gets some total coverage for the week.
As you know one of my favorite places for sexy plus swimwear is Always for Me. My last post dealt with new arrivals so I’ll keep with new arrivals here too. My top three classy faves are:
Carol Wior Twist Bandeau Color Block Swim Dress in sizes 16 to 24 for $110
Longitude 2 Piece Polka Dot Halter with Swim Shorts in sizes 18 to 24 for $73.50
Rio De Janeiro Twist Bandeau w/Side Adjustable Straps in sizes 18 to 26 for $74
(comes in three other colors)

Annabelle Smudge Liner
Since I had eye surgery last summer I have been a little more obsessed with what I put on my eyes. For eight months I haven’t put much of anything other than a bit of color because I wanted to make sure they were thoroughly healed. But now I’m in the experimenting mode. In this new mode, I’m even more conscious than ever with how my eye make up wears because I’m more observant of what my eyes are doing and why…dryness, itchiness, watering etc.
Last week I picked up two eye lining products. Since this post is titled after one of them I’ll talk about that one first: The new Annabelle Smudge Liner (in rich chocolate) — I absolutely love this product.
It is soft and applies easily and delivers a great line. I was surprised by this because I haven’t had the eye liner application practise that comes with daily wear. As you can see from the image, one end is liner and the other has a smudging foam end. I’m not a huge smudger, I just like to smooth the lines a little and leave.
I was expecting the Annabelle Smudge Liner to smear throughout the day or at least transfer to other eye parts but it didn’t. I’m absolutely thrilled with it and if you can get your hands on some I think you’ll be happy. It’s a Canadian made product available in national drugstores. Those in the United States can do some cross border shopping or get the 1 800 from the website to make a phone order.
The other product I purchased was Cover Girl Line Exact Liquid Liner (in smoke) — this is an amazing liquid liner. The felt tip applicator made it easy to apply thin and thick. A great accomplishment for my unsteady-for-liquid-liner hands. It even stayed fresh looking all day. I was in love.
But then day two came around and the felt tip barely delivered any juice. I could get a thick line no problem but the detail control was lost. I experimented with shaking (you’re suppose to shake well before use) but that didn’t work. I resorted to wetting the tip with water. Eureka, the fine tip was working again. But I don’t consider hypoallergenic enough to want to keep doing that and I shouldn’t half to. I may use the Cover Girl Line Exact Liquid Liner as a practise tube now but it is definitely not one I would recommend. It definitely has piqued my interest for felt tip liquid liners though.
If you have an eye liner that you swear by please share what it is in the comments.
