Bumpits Hair Volumizing Inserts

A few weeks ago I was watching a video blogger’s review of Bumpits, a hair accessory to add volume to the crown of the head, and she pretty much sold me on the concept (I’ve searched high and low for blogger’s link but can’t find it – if you are her email me and I’ll add a link) but I wanted to try it for myself. Instead of buying them from the official website for $20 plus shipping I checked out ebay and sure enough I found them there at a great price — $6 plus $1 for shipping (free shipping in the United States).Bumpits-Hair-Bumps

What are Bumpits? Basically they are plastic crescent moons with comb edges all the way around. They sit on top of the scalp in a part and grip the hair into a bump shape; you know, instead of having to back comb the hell out of the hair to make it look like the top of your head has more volume than it actually does.

My brand new package of Bumpits came with 1 large bump for a Hollywood bump, 2 medium bumps for every day use and 2 small bumps for bangs. I ordered the light blonde color to match my hair but they also come in dark blonde, brown and black. The box included a one page style guide of picture and text instructions on how to use the Bumpits.

I was incredibly impressed with this little gadget. Especially the the medium sized ones. I have incredibly bad luck with backcombing. Firstly it trashes my hair and secondly it looks like a bird got in there and made a nest.

Bumpits are incredibly easy to use. My hair still needed a little teasing as it is super sleek straight, thin and slippery. I was surprised that it still worked. I think thicker hair would definitely be easier (requiring less or no spray) to use. I have short bangs and really couldn’t seem to get the small ones to look right but I have experimented with the Hollywood bump, cute but not me.

I am impressed with Bumpits and I will definitely be making regular use of the medium every day bumps. I even double bumped it yesterday! I highly recommend this beauty accessory; especially at the prices I found on ebay.

Excellent! Let me know how it goes. How much did you pay for them at Target?

People thought I was crazy for buying these, but I love them. My hair is pretty short, so right now I’m just using the bang Bumpit when I wear my hear half up, but all the girls in my office wanted to try them, and are all convinced to go buy a set.

They were $9.99 for a set of 3 (one of each size). Turns out my hair is a little thin for these, but I’m gonna try back combing a little bit to see if that helps. ;o)

I love to watch television shows that have extreme transformations like the ones seen on America's Next Top model, when they totally change the look of the model with a haircut or color. I do not however like "makeover" shows or even the term as they suggest that something was wrong with... […]
