We Love Colors Opaque Tights Review

Affordable plus size opaque tights that are actually plus size are hard to find. Actually unless you know where to look they are pretty much impossible to find beyond the traditional black and white. I was contacted a few weeks ago to review a few plus size opaque tights by an online company called We Love Colors. Not only do they have a cool name, they have cool colored tights. Plus-Size-Opaque-Tights

Their plus sized nylon/lycra tights are available in over 50 colors in sizes up to 6′, 375lbs (that is not even including the splash, striped, and fishnet colored tights they offer). And if that sounds good to you then you’ll probably go crazy over the price too — $17 and under. We Love Color dyes and finishes their tights in the United States. They are easy care hand wash and drip dry.

My sizing kind of falls into two size categories. The first size, Nylon/Lycra tights in Splash, went on easily but loosened up by the end of the day. The color is fabulous; actually, it is a mixture of colors kind of like tye dye but better. My husband joked that it looked like some alien skin from Star Trek but I seriously loved the color. The tights are incredibly soft to touch both off and on. They are generous in the ankles and waist.

Unfortunately, with the first pair there were 1″ runs from the toes within a few hours — I don’t think this was due to the quality of the product but to the fact I put them on like I would wear pantyhose. The toes are not reinforced and are not meant to be worn pulled tightly over the toes. I had much better luck with the second pair of Nylon/Lycra tights in black. Speaking of toes, the tights have this strange square toe that leaves a bit extra over the smaller toes.

I wore them with short polyester pants and with a short cotton skirt — no climbing, exactly the opposite of what I expected. These tights are incredibly comfortable. As I mentioned they loosen up quite a bit by the end of the day so you might want to experiment with smaller size.

They were super easy to wash in hand wash liquid and hung to dry. A lot of dye seem to transfer to the water the first time I washed them but it didn’t seem to affect the color or vibrancy of the tights. Washing seemed to make them even softer if that is possible.

I was also sent a pair of Gold Splash Metallic Tights (gold printed on tights) which seemed to have a totally different sizing than the others. I don’t know if it was the print or what but they definitely had reduced stretch. I didn’t care for them at all. The gold print created flecks that transferred onto other things (clothing, chair). And, they just don’t feel as nice as the solid or regular splash tights.

If you are looking to add some color to your wardrobe, need tights for a Halloween costume, dance recital or whatever I highly recommend trying We Love Colors Nylon/Lycra opaque tights.

I’ve heard of this site, and I’ve been wanting to try out their tights. I often wear pants, but I have a couple of pairs of skirts/dresses that would be livened up with some colorful tights especially in the winter. Thanks for the review.
