Every girl should have a red dress that screams Happy Valentine’s Day. Here are five of my favorites:

This Raquel Lipstick Red Dress is from B & Lu and is available in sizes 1x to 4x for $59. This retro dress hugs the right curves and has a panel to accentuate the waist. It looks like something Christina Hendricks’s character from Mad Men might wear.

This Quinn Jewel from Kiyonna is on sale for $68. It is available in sizes 0x to 5x. For the conservative woman who is not afraid to tease with a little arm flesh. No exposed waddle here.

This “Roxie” Beaded V-Neck Batwing Dress is from Monif C and is available in sizes 14 to 24 for $175. For the pop star fashionista.

This limited edition Sienna Dress is from Igigi and is offered in sizes 12 to 28 for $158. Pretty, flowing and flattering.

This Red Bandage Dress is from Torrid in sizes 2 to 5 for $54. Curve hugging crisscrossing pleats — what’s not to love!

If you want to order some of the best designs from Big Gals Lingerie for a special day then you have be quick because they are custom made and take two to four weeks unless you request a “rush” order. I imagine around this time of year they are quite busy. Big Gals Lingerie has unique designs and really picking only a few of my favorites was quite hard. Their custom selection is available in sizes 1x to 12x and are a bit pricier than many other places at $66 to $69.

A good way to celebrate Valentine’s Day is with a good bra. And if anyone knows how to make a lovely one it’s Lane Bryant (and they all come with matching panties). Their Cacique line of bras is fabulous and of course they’ve come out with a few fun but sexy styles for celebrating V-day. Surprising, none are red:

In true Valentine’s fashion LB is offering up this adorable French Maid ensemble. The bra is $40, ruffle skirt is $29.50, and the satin g-string is $29. I would prefer LB offer this whole set for $50 because $80 certainly goes a long way at other lingerie shops.

The 3-D Rose Plunge Bra and Hipster is $42 for the bra and $18 for the panty (being modeled by the lovely Crystal Renn).

And the best for last, something that is actually wearable under clothing outside the bedroom — the Jacquard Classic Plunge Bra. It has a matching g-string or for fun a little skirt. But I seriously love the bra which is $40.

It’s been a formal week so far. Now for something a little casual. I was reading that plaid shirts are a style trend for the new year and I’ve definitely been seeing them every where I turn. They are a great layering piece over camis and if you get a extra long one they can be worn well with tights or skinny jeans. Here are a few of my favorite plus size plaid shirts from three of my fave shops:

Nordstrom

The ruffle shirt on the left is $68 and the tunic on the right is $78. Both are great with jeans but the tunic is perfect for tights and boots but I’d open up a few more buttons on the tunic to expose a cami and maybe add a nice belt.

Torrid
The one on the left is $38 and has cinching detail at back, above breasts and on arms to remove the traditional box look. Love it! Almost as much as I love this plaid shirt dress for $48. All she’s just missing are the tights (I’d like to see red or grey)!

Lane Bryant
The Santeen shirt on the left is on sale for $17.80 and perfect for under a blazer. On the right, yes that is a flannel shirt. I love the look with leggings for lounging. The buffalo plaid sleep shirt is $36.50.

Tip 1: Don’t go crazy with the plaid shirts. Adding one or two to your wardrobe is all you need. Find a favorite but don’t buy one in ever shade. I’m just saying.
Tip 2: Enter “plaid” in the search box of your favorite store to see what they offer. Of the three above, Torrid seemed to have the most choices.
