What To Do With Old But Wearable Clothing

This weekend I got a great email from a woman looking to find a new home for her post weight loss clothing. Here are a few suggestions: Friends looking through closet

  • Dressed for Success would love any career/work or business attire you have in plus sizes. If you haven’t heard of them they are a non-profit organization that provides “interview suits, confidence boosts, and career development to low-income women”. There may be a location in your area or a facility you can mail a box to.
  • The second option is to donate/sell the clothes to Re/Dress. It started out as sort of a swap meet for plus size clothing but has turned into the top site for second hand plus size clothing! If you live in the area you may make a few bucks or you can mail them your donation.
  • And if you have the time and inclination you might try posting your items on eBay. For convenience and time I would post everything as a lot of clothes (list everything under one auction); especially if making money is not your focus.

If you have other suggestions for second hand clothes please leave them in the comments!

  • A Cut Above
I love to watch television shows that have extreme transformations like the ones seen on America's Next Top model, when they totally change the look of the model with a haircut or color. I do not however like "makeover" shows or even the term as they suggest that something was wrong with... […]
  • Miss Representation
The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) has been airing a documentary by Jennifer Siebel Newsom called Miss Representation. The title is an interesting play on words. If you get the chance I highly recommend watching the 90 minute documentary that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year which... […]
  • Weight Bullying
It is not o.k. to bully someone about their weight and then try to cushion it with "I am telling you this because I care" or the multitude of other passive-aggressive comments that come from friends, family, and my personal favorite strangers who are driven by stereotypes of being fat and decades of […]
