A few weeks ago Yoek (The Netherlands) asked me to review an item from their spring and summer line. They sent me a pink ruffled tunic with white dots. It was designed in Holland and made in Turkey. It came packaged in a lovely heavy duty gift box all tied up with a bow:
And lots of pink tissue paper:
A little surprise in the bottom was a plastic reusable snake skin bag. I do not mind that Yoek is stamped on the side but the “plus size fashion” emblazoned on it makes it a turn off.
I wore the top out on a trip to the local rose garden. The top has substantial weight to it but I was surprisingly comfortable on this warm day. It is a nice change from the barely there summer fabrics I have seen this year.
I wore it with a pair of white Cotton Ginny capri pants and black flats. As you can see from the photos I am still carrying around my red Naturalizer bag.
This top is made of 95% Viscose and 5% Elastane which makes the fabric super stretchy.
I love the a-line cut on this top. I noticed the Yoek website has many a-line tops and similar lengths. I can see myself switching up the look of this top by wearing it with a belt.
It is well made. I was kind of disappointed when I noticed the ruffle had a raw edge but the more I thought about the way the fabric moves it is probably best.
I love how they did not forget about the back. Normally a top like this would have a ruffle in the front and then just a standard covered back but the ruffles carries all the way around and they incorporated a peek-a-boo opening — it not substantial and I did not have to worry about my bra showing. The drawstring was also a nice touch and as you can see those loops are not coming off.
I love the length of this top and I guess for some people it would be long enough for a short dress (I am 5’9″). [FYI: Lesson learned — look out for sun spots when wearing white dots.]
Along with the parcel came a preview book of the fall and winter line and I am very excited about what they have to offer plus size women. Their website is easy to surf with multiple language choices unfortunately the prices are in Euros. The price points are pretty high too. This plus size dotted top is listed at €129 (Euro) which converts to approximately $163. Their sizes range from S (8) to 2x (24/26) and a plus size (28/30).
Their clothing is available at many high-end shops throughout the world and online through their e-shop. Their shipping costs run high at €28 (about $35) for the United States and Canada.
Outtake Photo: It was a gorgeous day for taking photos despite sun spots and gusts of wind.
