Valentine’s Dresses

Every girl should have a red dress that screams Happy Valentine’s Day. Here are five of my favorites:

This Raquel Lipstick Red Dress is from B & Lu and is available in sizes 1x to 4x for $59. This retro dress hugs the right cuves and has a panel to accentuate the waist. It looks like something Christina Hendricks’s character from Mad Men might wear.

Plus Size Party Dress From B & Lu

This Quinn Jewel from Kiyonna is on sale for $68. It is available in sizes 0x to 5x. For the conservative woman who is not afraid to tease with a little arm flesh. No exposed waddle here.

Plus Size Party Dress from Kiyonna

This “Roxie” Beaded V-Neck Batwing Dress is from Monif C and is available in sizes 14 to 24 for $175. For the pop star fashionista.

Plus Size Party Dress from Monif C

This limited edition Sienna Dress is from Igigi and is offered in sizes 12 to 28 for $158. Pretty, flowing and flattering.

Plus Size Party Dress from Igigi

This Red Bandage Dress is from Torrid in sizes 2 to 5 for $54. Curve hugging crisscrossing pleats — what’s not to love!

Forget Me Not Dress

I absolutely love the color of this Forget Me Not Dress — pacific blue. It is available at plus size dress maker Igigi in sizes 12 to 32 for $118. I found this dress and an awesome wrap dress in their new arrivals.

I don’t know if I’m just mesmerized by the color or what but I love the v-neck and the fact the princess knot is at the waist and not empress style. Like most Igigi’s dresses this one is lined.

Depending on the accessories this dress would double for the office and a dinner party. Did I mention I love the color. I wonder if it’s that wonderful in real life. Anyone see it?

Mandisa in Soft Green

The lovely Mandisa, best known from the fifth season of American Idol, has been seen walking more than a few red carpets lately. At a recent Idol red carpet event Mandisa was wearing Kiyonna’s Stella Chiffon Party Dress and she looked incredibly beautiful in it too. I love the addition of the thick brown belt and gladiator sandals. The Chiffon dress comes in sizes 10 to 24 for $142 but is selling quickly. It is also available in black. The belt looks like Igigi’s Matte Buckle Belt but they only have it in black now.

The Grammy nominated singer who placed ninth in the Idol competition has not slowed down since her appearance that won her a huge fan base. I remember being so disappointed when she was voted off. I thought it was an injustice at the time but we’ve learned over time that being voted off is not necessarily a bad thing. The girl was is damn talented. Mandisa has released four albums since then; two of which were Christmas themed. There is definitely more music in her future.

Monif C Spring Collection

The Monif C Spring collection is online and I am in love. I’ve always been a fan of her Convertible Marilyn Dress with it’s endless style possibilities for women inspired by all things Marilyn (you know the blonde bombshell):

But now she’s gone and made a longer version which I think I love even more. At the moment there are only three colors: black, white and tangerine! Like the original the dress comes in a one size fits most (8 – 24) for $235.

I can definitely see the white being used as a wedding dress and hopefully more colors to be used as bride’s made dresses. Talk about the perfect dress for bride’s maids. A huge range of sizes and styles to suit many tastes.

I love spring! While you’re visiting Monif C to check out her new Spring Collection be sure to watch the Convertible dress video.

Going Gold with Igigi

Igigi is still celebrating the holiday season with lots of sales. Today I found this dressy top on for 60% off. It’s great for a party or with a cami at a dressy office. I love the wrap, the buckle, the collar and the bunched sleeves. Multi-details are so captivating.

The Silk Dupioni Wrap Blouse comes in sizes 14 – 30 (but many are selling fast) for $60. And you get a pair of black wide legged dress pants for $35 (luv them).

Make sure you check out Igigi’s other year end sales. There’s lots of goodies sashaying around their website.

The Buckle Dress

While the buckle is an obvious detail on this dress I really don’t think anyone would notice it. There’s some serious plunge here. Belle Avenue has a few unique dresses but this is one of my favorites. For some reason Jennifer Hudson comes to mind when I see this dress.

It comes in black and teal as well as brown but each color has limited sizes ranging from 1x – 3x. It is retailing for an affordable $42.99. A great deal for a party dress… so you can spend some money on a pair of shoes perhaps.

Maribella Jeweled Gown

Party dress week continues and I’ve been dying to show you this dress from plus size dress maker Igigi. I can’t decide which color I like better. It was the chestnut that caught my eye first but as you know I’m a sucker for almost anything blue. And they’re calling it “bijou blue” which couldn’t be any cuter.

My favorite features of the Maribella Jeweled Halter Gown are the antique looking jewels that meet at the ruched bodice, the peek-a-boo shoulders, the 3/4 length sleeves, the flared full skirt… ok, everything. And it’s lined. This floor length dress comes in sizes 12 to 32. As mentioned it comes is two colors. Igigi is selling it for $238. You have to watch the video of this dress and the model in action at the Igigi website. It’s gorgeous!

Which do you like better, chestnut or bijou blue?

Prom Dress Week – White

I never would have thought of white as an option for a prom dress but this ‘Delicate’ Plus Size Prom Dress (7496p) from Loralie is stunning with the black detail on the bodice. The black gloves are definitely a must and complete the elegance of an already simple dress.

The dress is listed as available in sizes 18-26 but currently Loralie only have size 18 listed. I’m sure if someone wanted a different size they would be accommodating. This ‘Delicate’ dress is $206.

A Week of Treats – Igigi

This dress is wicked-awesome! Yes, that’s exactly what I thought when I saw it. This red Empire Waist Gown with Jewels (3276W54), from plus size dress maker Igigi, looks like something Venus herself would have worn.

Obviously the neckline makes this dress but the detail put into the beading work and crossover at the breast make this flowing gown all the more delicious. It’s not cheap at $280 but it is made in the US. It comes in sizes 12 – 32.

This dress is a definite treat!
