Valentine’s a Lane Bryant

A good way to celebrate Valentine’s Day is with a good bra. And if anyone knows how to make a lovely one it’s Lane Bryant (and they all come with matching panties). Their Cacique line of bras is fabulous and of course they’ve come out with a few fun but sexy styles for celebrating V-day. Surprising, none are red:

In true Valentine’s fashion LB is offering up this adorable French Maid ensemble. The bra is $40, ruffle skirt is $29.50, and the satin g-string is $29. I would prefer LB offer this whole set for $50 because $80 certainly goes a long way at other lingerie shops.

The 3-D Rose Plunge Bra and Hipster is $42 for the bra and $18 for the panty (being modeled by the lovely Crystal Renn).

And the best for last, something that is actually wearable under clothing outside the bedroom — the Jacquard Classic Plunge Bra. It has a matching g-string or for fun a little skirt. But I seriously love the bra which is $40.

Buy Two Bras Get Two Free

From now until January 3, Lane Bryant has their Cacique bras on sale. The buy two get two free event is one of their better bras sales. If you have been reading the blog for a while then you know the balconette (pictured first and last) is one of my favorites for style and fit. Here are three of my favorites from their current bra styles:

Four In One Bra

This looks like the perfect bra for summer. With all the shapes and cut outs that come with summer tops it’s often a chore/battle to get the bra to stay hidden. The four-in-one bra from plus size clothing retailer Avenue allows the wearer to adjust the bra into a halter, crossback, racerback as well as the traditional two strap.

It comes in sizes 40B to 46DD. The bra is regularly $24.90 but is on sale for $19.99. It is available in shell which would be virtually invisible on light skin tones and black.

Le Mystere on Sale

Hips and Curves is celebrating spring with their Semi Annual sale. One of the great deals I found was the Tisha Le Mystere Bra. You might remember my bra rant from last week, Bra Price Points and Boobage Comfort, in which I mentioned a similar one being available at Her Room.

Hips and Curves have a number of items on sale but this one also stood out because of the sale price — the t-shirt bra sells for $65.95 but is on sale for $49.37. It comes in four colors: chocolate, black, nude and pink. (The one at Her Room only came in two colors and was more expensive.) Bra sizes available are 38C to 44G, no doubles or triples.

Bra Price Points and Boobage Comfort

A few weeks ago I was all excited because I bought two “brand new” fashion bras on ebay for $22. As someone who occasional shops for plus size clothing and otherwise on ebay, I considered it an awesome deal for the flower and leopard duo (with matching panties). I was thrilled with myself and for my wallet. When they arrived I was less thrilled but still felt I had a gem of a deal.

The straps were super stretchy, a little too much give for supporting the breasts of a plus size woman. The padding of the bra looked unbreathable. But overall, still cute and looking reasonably constructed. They were still tagged and looked unworn.

Yesterday I finally got around to wearing one of them on errands. OMG! I never understood it before; now I know why some women totally swear off underwire fashion bras. By the time I got home I had one of the supporting side boning poking into me, the underwires weren’t cupping my breasts but were digging into me and one of my boobs was peeking out from the bottom under the wire. One would think I had been playing a mean game of beach volleyball. I was floored (I’m not one to adjust one’s boobage in public but I nearly had to).

This got me thinking about price points when it comes to bras. I now firmly believe you get what you pay for when it comes to these plus size undergarments. And considering how often I wear them I will never complain again about the price of a good bra. I will also stick with my Cacique bras which have never given me any grief or unwanted exposure.

Specifically, I mentioned it before and I will mention it again, the smooth Balconette bra is one of my favorites. All wire is heavily covered for comfort, it is shaped properly for comfort under the breast and upper rib cage. The padding is breathable. And most importantly, I can move without fear of something coming out where it shouldn’t when I’m out in public. It comes in new colors/patterns every season but I’m partial to nude because it matches my skin and doesn’t show under clothing. I also have red, black and of course blue. They come in sizes 36C to 44H up to triple D. Prices range from $32 to $40. There is always a Lane Bryant coupon lying around (check out the latest Promo Friday to see if there is one) and they often have Cacique bra promotions on. I highly recommend this bra. I see now they have a microfiber one without padding but the same great cut that I would like to try this summer.

If you don’t like Lane Bryant. Then consider the Le Mystére Tisha Bra from Her Room (a online shop with plus size bras out the wazoo). It has a similar appearance to my Balconette bra although the straps look thinner. The sizes range from 32C to 44 H (no double or triple cups) for $66. It is endorsed by Oprah for women with large breasts looking for a sleek contour, coverage and comfort. It is considered by many to be the ultimate tee shirt bra because of it’s invisibility.

Rosie Bra

It’s so pretty you can wear it on its only. Ok, maybe not on it’s own but it does makes me think about all the good things that come with spring. Like blossoms. And soon it will be here (fingers crossed).

This Enchanted Floral bra is from multi-size women’s clothing retailer Fashion Bug. It comes in sizes 40C – 44DD. Right now it costs $25 and is part of the Fashion Bug’s Buy One Get One 50% Off promotion. It has matching panties but they looks like scary bloomers.

I don’t know why but this bra makes me think of Natalie Wood in West Side Story singing, “I feel pretty”.

New Push Up Demi Bra from Lane Bryant

I’ve been a fan for a few years of plus size clothing company Lane Bryant’s Cacique line (pronounced Ka-seek). In particular, I have a few Smooth Balconette Bras that I hoard. Today Lane Bryant is announcing a new push up demi bra that I’m excited to try.

The Foundation is Important

Before we can think of increasing our activity we have to think about making sure everything stays in it’s place. Especially the girls. Junonia has one of the best sport bras to keep the girls of almost any active plus size woman in place. Unless of course you’re going bungee jumpy then there’s no guarantee.

The Goddess Sports Bra offers extra support to keep the ladies in place. If you are exceptionally endowed bear in mind that you are going to have some movement. Besides the extra support at the breast this bras has a moisture-wicking and antimicrobial properties to decrease that damp feeling from sweat buildup. This bra is machine washable and as of this post is on sale for $29.97 (Reg: $49.95). It comes in sizes 38C – 48G and there are some triple Ds in there as well.

You should have a minimum of two work out bras and if you are a heavy sweater, regardless of microbial properties you should be cleaning them regularly. Having two makes it easier for one to be in the wash and the other to be in use.
