My Favorite Things http://www.plusshe.com plus size clothing Wed, 19 Jun 2013 05:49:59 +0000 en-US hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.5.1 The $69 Swimsuithttp://www.plusshe.com/2013/06/the-69-swimsuit/ http://www.plusshe.com/2013/06/the-69-swimsuit/#comments Wed, 19 Jun 2013 05:49:59 +0000 Moe http://www.plusshe.com/?p=16755 Swimsuits generally are not cheap. Some can be downright killer expensive. For the most part we really do not wear them that often so why put too much money into something that spends most of its time in the drawer? If you are a pool or beach maven, then sure, it pays to invest a little money into a good fitting, long lasting bathing suit but for the most of us… meh.

Always for Me’s swimsuits typically run in the $89 range. But they have a newer section under their own brand that is still fashionable, fun, and nicely made that will not completely empty the pocket book. This range is priced at $69 and under (I threw in a few fave ones that were on sale too). So if you are an occasional swimsuit wearer like myself you might be able to appreciate the price point.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Seeing Greenhttp://www.plusshe.com/2013/06/seeing-green/ http://www.plusshe.com/2013/06/seeing-green/#comments Sat, 15 Jun 2013 04:25:58 +0000 Moe http://www.plusshe.com/?p=16975 Last night I applied two of the colors from my first Mystery Box from Julep. I was feeling in a Kermity mood so choose the two greens they sent: Fiona (top) and Sofia (bottom). The colors do not look like they would coordinate well by looking at the colors in the bottles but I figured Sofia would be sheer enough that it would not matter. And I think I was right.

Fiona and Sofia green nail polishes from Julep.

Fiona is a very thick bright green (they describe it as “electric lime neon green”) that reminds me of Fiona’s, from the Shrek movie, skin tone. I found this polish to be really goopy to put on. Even after a second coat I was not thrilled with the application — oh, and Fiona has no sheen. I had originally planned to only put Sofia on as an accent color on the ring finger but ended up putting it on all nails.

Fiona-and-Sofia-Polish

Sofia is a sheer looking polish with a light green tint with fine sparkles. This polish went on with no problems at all, a really nice formulation.

Sofia-Sparkle

Now here is the best part of Sofia — she glows in the dark! It was a totally awesome surprise when I went to bed. I reached down to pull up the sheets and ten glowing fingers surprised me. It reminds me of the traditional color of glow-sticks but you definitely could not light your way in the dark with these. There is just enough for a fun glow to your tips.

Fiona-and-Sofia-Nails

When I checked the website site they described this polish as a “top coat” but in my opinion it does not offer enough sheen for a top coat so I added an additional layer.

The luminescence lasts about 15 minutes but a few seconds in some light had it recharged again. I tried taking a picture but did not have any luck. But trust me, it is super cool. Of the two I would definitely recommend the Sofia — I am looking forward to testing it out with other colors.

You can find both polishes on the Julep website for $14. $11.20 if you become a Julep Maven.

Igigi Goes Into the Bluehttp://www.plusshe.com/2013/06/igigi-goes-into-the-blue/ http://www.plusshe.com/2013/06/igigi-goes-into-the-blue/#comments Tue, 11 Jun 2013 19:22:14 +0000 Moe http://www.plusshe.com/?p=16829 Igigi by Yuliya Raquel latest collection, called Into the Blue (right up my alley), is “drenched in color and vibrant prints” for summer. Their latest photo shoot was shot outside the Cliff House in San Francisco and the featured model this time around is Clementine Desseaux who I have often seen referred to as Clementine.

The dresses are full of decadent colors, criss crossing fabrics, draping, ruching, and the pleating that we love so much was well as great pattern combinations. As usual the pieces range in price from $62 to $195. Here are a few of my favorites from the summer collection:

Let’s start things off with a little summery print on black color block. Mmmagnifique!

Print and black color block dress from Igigi.

Followed by some power purple and ruffles (already on site in azalea or jade).

Power purple ruffled day dress from Igigi.

Of all of the dresses I think this is actually my favorite of favorites. I love the crispness of black and white but the softness of the lace shoulders. The piping down the front accentuates the curves in all the right places. It has an allover vintage appeal that is so hot right now.

Black and white dress from Igigi.

Mix a little gold with your plum to add a little sparkle to your day or sheen to your night (already on site in plum or black).

Wine translucent dress from Igigi.

You cannot name a collection after blue and not a least have it covered. And they do with this delicate flowing maxi.

The Striped Skirthttp://www.plusshe.com/2013/06/the-striped-skirt/ http://www.plusshe.com/2013/06/the-striped-skirt/#comments Thu, 06 Jun 2013 19:57:38 +0000 Moe http://www.plusshe.com/?p=16756 I have mixed feelings about this skirt, or at least the way that it is worn in the images.

The convertible skirt dress rolled down into a skirt.

I love stripes, I love black and creme (would prefer white, it’s good) but I think I would wear it with the seams facing front and back instead of on the sides. I just like the illusion it creates and do not think is shows it off enough if worn side to side. Have you ever changed a skirt around to get the pattern where you want it?

Kiyonna’s Chameleon Convertible Skirt and Dress (if you are into tube dresses) is available in sizes 10 to 32 for $78.

Plus size striped black and cream skirt from Kiyonna.

If you are not into stripes they have a similar style in the Camryn skirt that is available in teal, taupe, or black.

This plus size convertible skirt is from Kiyonna.
